What’s with od?

I’ve always thought of writing about my online handle, ‘od’. TIme flies and I’ve forgotten about it. But recently Devin asked what is the hidden meaning behind od, so here you go..

Well Devin, od is definitely not octal dump, you make me sound so geeky. lol.

od is overdose.

Stuff I od’ed:

Me daily cup of coffee 🙂

Caffein – I love coffee. Nuff said.

I am a junk food junkie.

I am a junk food junkie. This is an example of a balanced diet.

Junk food – This local company had a junk food wholesale last time, and yea I went mad looking at all those junk food! I’ve not tasted them before, but hey, it’s junk food, and it has MSG in it, so what could go wrong with the taste? MSG is awesome! Damn it, I wish it’s good for health.

p

Hey look, that's my online handle on the inhaler :p

My asthma inhaler – Specifically my Bricanyl Turbuhaler 0.5 mg/dose by Astra Zeneca. The picture on top is a Symbicort, mainly for prevention, and the latest formula claims it to be effective on attacks as well. Prolly is, but NOT as effective as Bricanyl Turb. And yes, this is how I got the sixtydoses from.

My baby Bricanyl.

My baby Bricanyl. I just noticed that the expiry date is last year. lol. Oh well, as long as it works.

I used to think that I od’ed on my medication. Even my friends thought the same too. I am asthmatic, and I depend on my awesome set of inhalers. The prevention inhaler, to prevent asthma attack, and another inhaler that is taken during attack. I have used so many inhalers before, I couldn’t even remember some of the names, but Bricanyl Turbuhaler(BT) is the best! Instant relief that it feels like magic. lol. I seriously dig this stuff.

I take my BT not only during attacks, but whenever I feel nervous or too excited:
– Before I sit for exams or presenting my projects to my lecturers.
– Before I go out for a date.
– Before I call someone I like.
– Before I watch any of my favorite shows and stuff I fancy on the telly.
– Oh well basically I’ll inhale everytime am hype. It calms me down.

My asthma is much, much better now, but just like a lipstick is a must in every girl’s handbag, an inhaler is a must in my bag. And the addiction is getting better as well, I finally managed to control it (not to mention that it has been a long time since I last took an exam, went out for a date and called someone I like lol).

Well there are other things that I od’ed on but I can’t think of anything much at the mo. Prolly because they’re less prominent than the listed three.

So that’s about it. If it’s not because of the inhaler on my computer table while I was sitting thinking of a new ID to use, prolly I would’ve came up with something else than sixtydoses/od. I have a number of online handles that I’ve been using since my college days, and the reason for me to create a new one is just to keep myself anonymous. Ah well, sort of.

  2. Chocolate + orange mmmmmmmmmmm love it! But we don’t have Jaffa Cakes here 😦 . I found a Jaffa Cakes recipe think am gonna try it hehe! Wonder if the orange centre is more like a jam or jelly though..

  3. It’s more like a jelly than a jam.

  5. Thanks for the explanation, od!! And hey, I am the geek with Octal Dump stuff not you so no worries there! 🙂

Now please tell me that the treadmill with the junk food is a stock photo and not a picture that you actually took yourself! Oh my gosh that would be so funny if it was real! (Please don’t be offended either way. I feel really dumb for not knowing whether these are your own photos or stock. The last one with your baby Bricanyl makes me think that you really took these pictures. You said you like photography and you are very good with a camera by the way!)

I really like that red cup of coffee. It is so cute and small. I always think of people drinking coffee in those large powerhouse thermal mugs.

Anyway, I am glad to see that your dependency on your inhaler is now under control! If it was me, I know I would be preemptively inhaling during stressful situations as well!

Take care and relax, od! 🙂

  6. You’re welcome 🙂

Yes, scary but true, the treadmill with the junk food picture was taken by me, the junk food junkie. But I’ve been a good girl (after being constantly nagged by my mom about my ‘junkiness’), it took me over a month to finish up those cans. Packed and kept them in the kitchen upper cabinet really helped! Om nom nom..

I’ve always thought the cup is quite big. Got it free for buying McVitie’s Digestive biscuits. And yea, I kinda bought the biscuits because of the cup lol.

    Thanks Devin 🙂

  7. So the picture was taken by you! Excellent I say. And I see your sense of humour is entirely intact because why else would you have chosen to put your junkfood on top of the fitness tread mill!! hahah that is too funny! Given the XP in the title, I just hope this equipment is not the Windows of treadmills. 🙂

What are moms there for but to help steer us in more healthy directions? My mom was ecstatic when I told her that I had gone on a diet and I remember in the past that she had warned us children of the dangers of MSG. According to her, they lather this chemical food additive to everything including Chinese food because it “enhances” the flavor of any food it comes in contact with!

Heheh. I like your moms usage of the word ‘junkiness’. I looked it up in the dictionary. Nope, it’s not there. 🙂 Just don’t invest around in any “junk” bonds or other shaky financial instruments, you hear?

Maybe the red cup is bigger than I think? Without anything else (like a quarter) plopped next to it sometimes perspective and depth is hard to gauge.
Hey, I don’t think we have digestive biscuits here in Canada. Thanks to wiki, I didn’t have to ask a silly questions since I learned that “Although they were advertised as aiding digestion, subsequent scientific research has concluded this is untrue.”
Next time I’m in the import aisle of my local supermarket, I’ll see if we have them!

  8. Lol I have to remind myself every now and then not to eat too much of carb without keeping myself fit. Sitting in front of computer all day long while munching those snacks will certainly make my liver upset.

Yeps, with added MSG, you don’t really have to worry on the taste. Like you said, it enhances the flavor of any food it comes in contact with. It’s bad for your health, and it’s something that I don’t use in my cooking of course, but when it comes to junk food, it’s purely acceptable. Why is it called ‘junk’ food in the first place anyway?

Uh.. my mom doesn’t use the word ‘junkiness’. I do 😛

The cup is umm.. prolly about double the size of a normal cup. Oh I didn’t know about the wiki fact, so it’s not really helping with the digestion eh? Pffttt.

  9. Going to dictionary.com we learn that the 2nd defintion of junk is “…anything that is regarded as worthless, meaningless, or contemptible; trash”

Ouch! So this is a very harsh definition but it is called Junk food because its worth is substantially less than healthy nutritious food that I’m sure you bake all the time! 🙂

And of course your food wouldn’t need MSG..you are the master of everything culinary… hehe

  10. I think that you can get Digestives if you look hard enough, Devin. But, you’re going to find the Arrowroot baby cookies more easily, which are pretty much the same. I must admit that I’ve got a weakness myself for thick cut kettle cooked potato chips (especially the ones cooked in peanut oil), which are just delicious!

    Comment by MrCorey — January 4, 2009 @ 12:22 pm

  11. You mean like this? Ummm I don’t think we don’t have that here too 😦

    Comment by od — January 4, 2009 @ 4:46 pm

  12. Oopps typo. I don’t think we have that here lol. Or prolly I should look harder for it at the imported items section.

    Comment by od — January 4, 2009 @ 4:51 pm

  13. Thanks for the info, Corey! Now everytime I see Arrowroot baby cookies I will immediately think of Od! haha So what do you get when you really need help with digesting things? I guess mother nature will have to be left alone to work her magic.

  14. […] As I’ve mentioned in my comment, we don’t have Jaffa Cakes here, though according to my brother I might be able to find them […]
